Biography[]
Early life and career[]
Born in Bielefeld, Germany, Matilda Volter was the eldest daughter of 1st Colonel Friedrich Volter, a decorated officer of Germany's Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK), and Xu Wulia, a Chinese-German intelligence analyst. Raised in a household where precision, discipline, and secrecy were second nature, Matilda’s life was shaped by military rigor from the moment she could walk. Her father’s intense training and ideological influence groomed her for battlefield excellence, while her mother’s background introduced her to the psychological dimensions of warfare.
By the age of 13, Matilda was already undergoing advanced training in close-quarters combat, survival tactics, and counter-intelligence. Her natural skill for reconnaissance and infiltration led to her recruitment into GSG 9 at only 17 and she lied about her age that she is about to be 18 next week, but she is accepted and it's where she served with distinction from 2016 to 2017, participating in high-profile counter-terrorism operations throughout Europe.
Driven by her father’s legacy and a desire to expand her skillset globally, she applied for U.S. Navy exchange training in 2018, successfully completing the grueling SEAL Team Six selection. Her proficiency in multilingual communication (German, English, Russian, Chinese) and versatility in both urban and wilderness environments quickly drew the attention of coalition commanders. In early 2019, she was recruited into Task Force 141, operating under SAS command through a special joint-intelligence pact. Though not British, she now serves as one of its most skilled operators under the callsign “Nemesis.”
But Nemesis' past carries a shadow deeper than warfare. Her younger sister, Hielde Volter, once considered a prodigy, vanished in 2016 as she gone out of Germany under mysterious circumstances during a joint NATO research program allegedly tied to neurological enhancement and soldier augmentation.
Rumors surfaced linking the program to Vladimir Makarov, who had been experimenting on individuals to create biologically optimized super soldiers. Though officially declared MIA, Matilda uncovered scattered intel suggesting Hielde was not only alive but had become one of Makarov’s prototypes like she used to be before escaped.
The discovery has since driven Nemesis with renewed intensity. While her outward composure remains cold and calculated, her internal mission has changed: find her sister dead or alive and bring Makarov’s legacy to an end.
